Our featured event: The Thomas Snow and Trent Austin at The Center for Cultural Exchange, Portland, ME — Oct. 25, 2003

Thomas Snow and Trent AustinIt is always a genuine treat to perform with Trent. Our concerts together are filled with beautiful musical moments laced with overtones of happiness and humor. Trent has developed into a world-class musicianTrent Austin with tremendous dexterity, artistry, and the ability to communicate in a refined and mature manner. This CCE performance consisted mainly of repertoire that Trent and I had never played together. Jobim’s “Look to the Sky” and Brubeck’s “The Duke” were two of the selections during our first set.

I am grateful for such wonderful attendance and enthusiastic response; it is always delightful to see so many familiar faces. Both Trent and I are especially honored by the presence of our musician friends who made the effort to attend. The Center is a superb place to hold a concert and the acoustics are marvelous, especially for small groups with an acoustic setting. Another major factor in the quality and success of this concert was the piano provided by Starbird Piano and Organ. There is little that can compare with the awesome feeling of playing on a freshly tuned 7’ 8” PetrofThomas Snow in this beautiful concert setting.

If you were unable to attend this performance, be sure to get in touch with the concert producer, Paul Lichter, and his Dimensions in Jazz program. Paul’s selfless contribution to the jazz scene in Maine is immeasurable; he has coordinated concerts featuring a roster of the finest jazz musicians in the world. If you haven’t already, you must experience his graciously warm aura and the tremendous events that he consistently brings to the northeast. Dimensions in Jazz can be reached at (207) 828-1310.
